The following urgent email was just sent out by the Michigan Democratic Party; I'm presenting it below in its' entirety:
Today in the Michigan State House Republicans are expected to push through legislation (House Bill 5187) that changes Michigan county redistricting law to allow just one county to redo their redistricting process – Oakland.
Kevin Hrit, Political Organizing Director for the Michigan Democratic Party, met with the Birmingham Dems on November 9th for an informative discussion.

With the Republican Party currently having complete control over the legislature, executive and judicial branches of the Michigan state government, having the redistricting process turn into a hopelessly gerrymandered mess was inevitable.
For those of us in the Birmingham/Bloomfield area, the most obvious fallout of this at the U.S. Congressional level is that MI-09, represented by Gary Peters for the past 3 years, is about to be sliced up into several new districts.
